Traditional
A Traditional Hospital consists of a number of different networks and
standards, where as a Digital Hospital integrates all of these systems
and more. Everything over IP - IP everywhere.
Digital
A Digital Hospital goes beyond just having advanced clinical systems to
include additional integration between IT, medical, communication and
building technologies to create a real-time hospital information environ-
ment. Hence, it relies on technology as a fundamental and integral part
of its business strategy.
Going Digital
“Going digital” enables the organization to leverage its potential for
delivering higher quality care in increasingly efficient ways through the
use of IT and process redesign.
Infrastructure
The basis for the digital hospital is a network and communication
infrastructure. Carefully planned, a wireless network can be
used for IP telephony and positioning, laying the foundation for
more advanced solutions.
Real-time
The IMATIS real-time Integration Engine serves as the hub for all
systems and information distribution. It’s powerful role handling
and device-independent portal secures flawless information to the
right person at the right time, wherever he or she may be.
Role-based
Our portal implements role-based access and can be configured so
that different messages can be sent to different people depending on
their predefined role(s). If that person is busy or unable to respond, the
message will automatically be sent to the next person/role in the list.
Telephones
The portal and other integrations are accessible via Cisco IP-telephones,
mobile telephones and various PDA’s from within the hospital as well
as over cellular networks.
Medical Devices and building systems
The IMATIS real-time Integration Engine can also connect with medical
devices and equipment to distribute the readings to the appropriate
person/people within the organization.
Building automation systems, like heating, air conditioning, fire suppression,
elevator control and lighting may also be connected to allow for even more streamlined, cross-system operations.
Relays information
The IMATIS Hospital Communication System relays all information
between people and systems, regardless of location and device type.
If desirable, even people outside the walls of the hospital may receive
messages when relevant.
The core
The IMATIS Hospital Communication System coupled with the IMATIS
Distributed Integration Engine creates the very core of the Digital Hospital.
It is this service which maintains the flow of vital information throughout
the hospital, ensuring that all staff involved with a patient’s treatment
can give and receive all relevant information concerning that patient
as he or she journeys through the hospital.
Bedside Terminal - information
The IMATIS Bedside Terminal is an important element of the
information flow when treating a patient. With such a powerful tool
available at the bedside, a doctor and his/her patient can easily review
the patient’s journal, visualize and discuss treatment with the help of
X-ray or endoscopic images, review and monitor readings and graphs
from medical instruments and even review laboratory results of a blood test.
Bedside Terminal - entertainment
When not being used in consultation, the terminal provides a patient with
information regarding his or her own treatment, medication and general
hospital information, In addition, the patient can enjoy entertainment in
the form of TV, radio, films, games and the internet as well as control
environmental factors such as bed position, lights, shading and room
temperature.
Bedside Terminal - communication
A software-based IP-telephone is integrated into the terminal and provides
two-way communication between the patient and medical staff at the push
of a button. If so desired by the organization, this may even be configured
to function as a regular telephone allowing the patient to place external calls.
Localization
Building on the powerful potential in a wireless network allows for
positioning and location based services. All IP enabled devices can
be tracked and utilized to streamline logistics and help hospital orderlies
become even more efficient. Time spent on chasing equipment can be
dramatically reduced. Tracking equipment also allows for monitoring the
actual use of resources, which in turn can streamline maintenance
programs to be use-based rather than schedule-based. Theft control,
movement restrictions for special patient groups etc are all possibilities
inherent in the Digital Hospital.
Modular solutions
Our solutions for the digital hospital are modular in nature and can be
implemented in phases, thereby providing the perfect expandable solution
for your organization’s needs both now and in the future.
Various gateways and drivers
The IMATIS platform provides various gateways and drivers for enabling
the IP-protocol over a wide range of different systems, applications and
networks. Examples include OPC, XLM, Dect Phones, HL7, KITH XML,
DocuLive, Dips, ASTM, PIMS, PAS, HIS, DICOM, SQL, Web Services, ASCII,
Nurse Calls and any serial device.
